Sheworks Atelier is a circular design studio that employs immigrant and refugee women, with talent in crafts and design. We produce all our products from residual materials from the Danish textile industry; this is called ‘zero-waste’ and this means that we only use the residual materials we have at our disposal to avoid new consumption.

In the desire to create proper working conditions for women, as well as equality between the sexes, we have created a workplace that provides a community, as well as developing skills and self-confidence. With figures from Kolding Municipality, we have calculated an annual saving of up up to DKK 1.7 million per. citizen who comes into full-time employment with Sheworks Atelier.
In our use of surplus materials, we make a great effort for environment, while at the same time creating increased awareness around responsible consumption and production.

30 MILLION KG CO2 SAVED
1 kg of textile costs 15 kg of CO2 to produce and as we recycle and thus ‘save’ leftover textiles from burning, we save from one million and up to 30 million kg CO2 every year - this is also including leather leftovers.

Designing with leftover fabrics.

Recycling requires Design expertise

With a focus on a strong Danish design tradition the female team at Sheworks Atelier are experts in reusing and recycling residual materials from many different industries and turn them into recognizable design products, where every detail is well thought out.
It requires in-depth material knowledge and great knowledge about how to combine and assemble materials to valuable collections so that they meet ours customers' wishes and needs.

Community

At Sheworks we have a strong sense of community and sisterhood. Our most important task is to make everyone feel at home and feel needed. We welcome anyone no matter of cultural background, religion or beliefs - as long as you are willing to learn and are in need of a community.
