Blossom’s  vision is for women to have the opportunity to reach their full potential without discrimination, criticism nor oppressive and restrictive norms. Our overall purpose is to build bridges between women in vulnerable situations and the rest of society.
We do this by creating volunteer-based and exclusively female social communities where women in vulnerable situations can feel safe, supported and are introduced to new opportunities.

Blossom is a NGO and comprises an ever-changing number of participants, 80+ volunteers and a supporting staff of three employees. Together, we are a community. We are brought together by the commonalities of female experiences in regards to security, health and employment challenges. Blossom is about women supporting women. Blossom facilitates the project HeartRoom and WeCare for women in homelessness and prostitution as well as the projects Blooming Room and Woman-to-Woman for women in vulnerable situations with a minority ethnic background. HeartRoom and Blooming Room are 13-week activity courses, Woman-to-Woman is a mentor programme and WeCare is focused on securing menstrual health and hygiene for women who spend a great duration of their daily lives on the streets. All our projects are facilitated by female volunteers and accessed by female participants.

In all our programs we implement resilience training, where participants are made aware of their strengths and positive social relationships, thereby improving their resilience to adversity, to stress and to barriers to inclusion in mainstream society. Resilience training boosts the capacity to bounce back from adversity. All people possess this capacity, however for our target populations, the bounce is more cumbersome and significantly less springy than for the majority of people. This is in large part due to structural barriers in the form of social stigma and male-centric opportunities for rehabilitation and employment.
Further, we work from an empowerment approach, where the participants' successful experiences with various activities strengthen their motivation and capability to create change in their lives, overcome discrimination and marginalisation and optain a sense social belonging and employment.
Finally, we work with the Common Third, where shared activities create an environment for curiosity and participation in each other's lives, the basis of which the participants' social skills in regards to cooperation, initiative, self-confidence and communication are developed.
Blossom works on a societal level to bring awareness to the challenges in Denmark for women in vulnerable positions and to counteract social stigma and structural discrimination. We do this by advocating for the rights and nauncing the public perception of our target populations in public debate.
Blossom is a small-scale organization in development. Blossom was originally founded in the US in 2016 and later relocated to Denmark, where the head office is, and it is only natural that Blossom has an international outlook. As an organization, we recognize the innate kinship between all of womankind across perceived ethnic and cultural divides. It is our hope and ambition that our Blossom from our base in Denmark will come to work with and advocate more and more women throughout Europe.
