BAMBOOS is a Danish non-profit NGO that aims to make a tangible difference for Cambodians by building and improving public schools, strengthening the local community, paving the way to future jobs, creating lasting impact, and offering Danish youth a life-changing experience as volunteers at the schools.

We believe that education is one of the most effective ways to break the cycle of poverty. Working closely with local communities, schools, and authorities, we strengthen public schools through school construction and renovation, teacher training, extra English classes, bicycle projects and community development initiatives. An important part of our work is creating opportunities for young Danes to volunteer in Cambodia, contribute with their skills, and gain valuable life experience while making a real difference.
Although BAMBOOS is a young organization, we have already established a strong foundation. We have are currently implementing 30 projects in Cambodia including 3 major school construction projects with teacher training and extra English classes as integrated part of the programs.

A major milestone was reached in early 2026 when BAMBOOS took over and continued the activities of our local partner in Cambodia. Through this transition, we inherited more than a decade of local experience, proven projects, established partnerships, and a dedicated team of nine Cambodian staff members, providing a strong platform for scaling our impact while ensuring local ownership, continuity, and long-term sustainability.

Their support helps us develop and launch our Youth Program 2.0, which offers young Danes the opportunity to volunteer at our schools and projects in Cambodia while gaining valuable life experience and cultural understanding.
The funding enables us to professionalize the program through concept development, field testing, process design, training of our local team, production of marketing materials, and the development of a dedicated youth-focused section of our website. In addition, One Life Foundation provides valuable sparring and mentoring that helps us strengthen the program's long-term sustainability and impact.
The Youth Program will not only create meaningful experiences for young volunteers but also help establish a sustainable financial foundation for BAMBOOS, enabling us to reach even more children and communities in Cambodia in the years to come.
